With our show being musical based, it would be a good idea to research into Elaine Paige as its a simular type of show.
Her show is based on a sunday afternoon to suite her target audience of an older generation, 30+. This audience wouldnt be that busy on a sunday afternoon as most of their audience would not have work on a sunday. Out of both radio shows, we have chosen our musical show to be in the afternoon based on this research.
The show is known as an 'easy listening' show so jobs can still be done such as house chores, or cooking the dinners.
Musicals songs has the appeal to people to be put in a good mood and gives motivation to whatever the audience is doing. If we had the choice, we would place our radio show on sunday because of this reason.
The pace of Elaines show is very slow, as information/news about musicals is been given out, so the audience needs to understand clearly. Slight projection is given out, but not too much energy to be confused with shouting. No pauses needed in this show as tension isnt neccessary. Her pitch is quite high, to give a happy appeal to the show, as everything mentioned in the show is positive so the attitude has to be too. This is also emphasised by her being female. It wouldn't have the same effect if it was a male as they have naturally deeper voices. for this reason, we have used a female for our show.
